I've noticed that Jagex has given players the ability to deactivate their Proffanity filters. I think that is pretty neat, but it means players are vulnerable to racist, secist, and other highly offensive remarks. Yes, all of this can be avoided by keeping the Proffanity Filter activated, but that would mean players missing out on the new freedom of turning off the filter to have a lively conversation with friends. Players must decide which extreme end they prefer to stick with and to cope with any and all constraints or problems that come with it. What is needed is a middle ground, something that will allow players to experience what both extreme ends of the Profanity Filter have to offer. A customizable filter will both provide freedom and protection to Runescape players, as well as allowing clans to better enforce their rules regarding offensive language in the clan chat.

Lest we forget, Clans can also benefit from a customizable profanity fitler. One such way a clan would benefit from this is that leaders would have the ability to block certian words from being spoken in their clan chat, thus allowing the filter to do some of the rule enforcing for them.
